It's time!

It is time to update the blog! Life continues to march on, as always, and we have some good things to report. First- Randy and I completed our half marathon! Kennedy loved the drive to Louisville because, unlike normally, she was not alone in the backseat of the car. Her Aunt Katie rode with us, and Kennedy made googly eyes and babbled at her the whole time. We had a good time with many of our friends who also ran. One of our friends had recommended taking a cab to the starting line instead of fighting the crowds waiting for shuttles before the start of the race, and it was some of the best advice we have ever taken! The race was long (not that we didn’t expect that), but entertaining nonetheless. I especially enjoyed running through Churchill Downs—it was a neat place to see. Kudos to Randy, who was not a runner a year ago, but is now planning for at least two other races this year! He announced on the way home that if he runs 2 half marathons every year until he is 55, he will have completed 50 races. I wish him good luck…

Kennedy is doing well. We can not believe she is 8 months old already. Besides being a crazy haired kid, she is starting to crawl—it looks like an ugly army crawl, but she can sure get around despite less than perfect form. She and Marley are enjoying each other’s company. Baby K is getting very good and taking his tennis ball and playing with it herself. I think Marley is confused by her, but the two of them seem to get along pretty well.

This last week included our first Cards game of the season and a trip to Ted Drewes. Enjoy the pics!

Randy and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary this week! We had a great dinner to celebrate, but later that night Randy got slammed with the stomach flu. Yuck! The Ides of March finally got us, I guess. We have certainly had an eventful two years, and it has sure been fun.



Also, Marley turns 2 this week! We don't have the exact date of his birth, so we picked St. Patrick's Day. He is such a silly dog. He's huge (over 70 pounds), loves people, and scared of many things (fishing poles, vacuums, half-open doors, etc). Marley has a "girlfriend" named Mya, a retriever who lives next door to my mom. They are great playmates, as they have similar energy levels and attention spans. He also has a wrestling buddy named Nikki, a 40 pound terrier who schools him all the time (he fights more like a big giant and she fights smart). We love having Marley around!




One more big event is that Kennedy is turning 6 months old! I can't believe how time has flown. She is growing so fast and is so much fun to watch. Lately she has been making all kinds of noises and practicing different pitches. It is very entertaining to hear. She is doing a great job learning to eat, and especially loves peaches (maybe because that is the only fruit she's had thus far...). She is very attentive to all that is going on around her. She loves Marley and gets super excited every morning when she first sees him sitting at the bottom of the stairs. She also loves chewing on anything (toys, couches, bibs) and playing in her exersaucer.

February 2010

February has been pretty eventful and fun. While Randy was busy working and hanging out with Marley, Kennedy and I went to visit my sister and her family in California. Baby K did great on the plane despite all of my fears. In California, we enjoyed hanging out with my sister’s family, visiting my college roommates, eating great food, and shopping.

We got back just in time to celebrate Valentines Day and for Kennedy to hang out with her other cousins who were visiting from Tennessee. She also enjoyed her first trip to a Japanese steakhouse to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Walker’s birthdays. She seemed unimpressed with the flaming grill and flipped out when the wait staff sang Happy Birthday.

On February 13th, baby K had her first taste of rice cereal. She isn’t a huge fan still and she certainly lets us know with her great facial expressions. This last week she also learned to eat her toes and rolled over for the first time!

Randy and I haven’t had as many advances as Kennedy this month, but we are plugging away at a few things. Randy continues to enjoy his new job, and we are both training for a half marathon this April. Here’s looking forward to spring…

We had a busy and fun Christmas season! We enjoyed a Christmas run through St. Louis, Christmas Eve with the Walkers, and Christmas Day with Nonnie and family.

Hello Cold Weather!

Have you ever seen “A Christmas Story”? Do you remember Ralphie’s little brother, Randy, and his snowsuit? If you don’t- Randy’s mom put him in a snowsuit that didn’t fit him and he couldn’t even move his arms. Below is a picture from the movie of Randy in his snow suit and Kennedy doing her best impression of him. (Kennedy’s arms don’t even reach half through the sleeves of her snowsuit- Ha!)

Changes!

Things have been changing for the Walkers! In November, we moved out of Hotel Dana and into our own place. It was so fun to see all of our things that had been waiting in storage for 6 months. Our first night in the house, Kennedy slept through the night for a full 7 hours. That was a wonderful change! She is now sleeping consistently 6-8 hrs every night. Our last change is that Randy accepted a new job, which he will start in January. We are so excited and very grateful for all of these new developments.

Kennedy is getting bigger and bigger. She is almost 12 lbs and can coo, smile in response to others, and recognize her parents. Enjoy the pics!

My Gold Medal Blog

Sorry it’s been so long since I have written- I have been focusing on letting people know that I am going to an excellent swimmer when I grow up. (I heard that prominent international organizations give out prestigious awards based on what they hope you’ll accomplish.) My goal is to persuade the International Olympic Committee into believing I’ll be an outstanding swimmer so they will give me a gold medal and I won’t have to go through all the trouble of training for the Olympics. What do you think of that strategy Michael Phelps?!?!?!

We rented our house in Oklahoma. The current renter is going to purchase the house next year. Mommy & Daddy are excited about this because if they sold it this fall they would have lost money, but selling it at the same price next year will allow for them to break even or come out a little ahead. Our family has really been blessed during these challenging, but rewarding times.
